“General recycling” means all forms of acceptable recyclable materials including, but not limited to, newspaper, cardboard, paper, plastics, and some aluminum and tin products, but not including Styrofoam, glass, steel or other metal products, auto parts, liquid waste, batteries, grease or food-stained paper products, bubble wrap, and other similar products. A more detailed list of acceptable and unacceptable recyclables can be found at City Hall.

“Green waste” means green yard waste, including, but not limited to, clippings from trees, shrubs, and bushes, grass clippings, leaves, produce and garden waste, but not including dirt, rocks, sod, paper, or other similar products.

“Solid waste” means all materials or substances discarded by the owner, including, but not limited to, garbage, refuse, industrial and commercial waste, ashes, incinerator residue, demolition, construction debris, and discarded automobiles, but not including sewage and other highly diluted water-carried materials or substances.

“Solid waste management” means the purposeful and systematic collection, transportation, storage, processing, recovery, and disposal of solid waste.

“Solid waste management facility” means any facility employed for solid waste management, including, but not limited to, transfer stations, transport systems, baling facilities, landfills, processing systems, including resource recovery facilities or other facilities for reducing solid waste volume, plants and facilities for compacting, composting or pyrolization of solid wastes, incinerators and other solid waste disposal, and facilities for resource recovery of energy.
